YOUTH SHINE
Harbor Shine offers Youth Shine, a 12-week summer program extended to students of Benton Harbor to apply for
- employment
- life coaching
- mentorship

The summer program focuses on:
- increasing personal and social potential of each student
- supporting positive activities/events that foster future thinking
- developing and building vocational skills in conjunction with mentoring
- sustaining and increasing educational involvement
- supporting post-secondary education for youth whose goals include college or technical school
Summer 2011: Hope in Action!
Youth Shine hired seven students for the summer, 2011. Three of those students were hired directly and employment was funded through the Harbor Shine social business, and four were paid through the partnership of Bridge Academy. Seven total students were coached, mentored, taught business skills and received vocational training to better equip them and prepare them for life.
Throughout the spring and summer of 2011, Harbor Shine also employed 3 men in transitional jobs, helping them reintegrate into the workforce and society. One of the transitional employees has grown into an excellent leader and employee, enabling Harbor Shine to promote him to a foreman position.
Lives are being transformed!
